Welcome Home
Brooklyn born Carmelo Anthony is coming home to New York. Melo, who played one year at 'Cuse winning them a title, has been traded along with a few Denver teammates to the Knicks in a huge deal. This is probably the biggest acquisition in franchise history since they won the first ever NBA draft lottery in 1985 and won the rights to Patrick Ewing. The Knicks gave up a bunch of players, I get that. Chandler, Gallo, and Felton all helped the Knicks become respectable again but Melo is a franchise changer. Giving Amare another superstar to play with makes the Knicks a team you don't want to face. Can't double team both players. Are the Knicks built to win this year? Absolutely not. Do I think they can upset an Atlanta or Chicago in the playoffs? Absolutely. But once the Knicks are able to add another big man or two and once CP3 or DW8 end up here next year then we will be a championship contender for years to come.
