For the Dang Record.....

For the record...

Deron Williams may be (and is in my opinion) just as good as Carmelo Anthony... if not better, because he not only scores 20 a night, but he also dishes the ball from the PG position, averaging close to 10 assists a season over his 7 year career, and also controls the game and its pace from that position. He is top 3 PGs in the NBA, if not the best. He is one of only 12 players since the merger in the 70's to average at least 17.0 points per game and 9.0 assists per game in their first 7 seasons. Guy is a beast and the PERFECT piece to build your team around... so start working Proky and Jigga cuz things are heating up... Brook will be a good number 2 I guarantee that also. Man has never had a true number one to make him a number two... So now he will show his true colors and play like he was last year. That being said, this team still has a long way to go. While Anthony Morrow is improving and Kris Humphries is getting better, they need to drastically improve to be major contributors and legit long term starters. The Nets need some reliable big men, another 15 to 20 point a game scorer, and a lethal 3 point shooter who can be counted on for production. But D-Williams will make the whole team, bench included, WAY better. He is THAT good...

That being said, Carmelo Anthony is also THAT good. The Knicks have a legitimate PG for two years (possibly) in Chauncey Billups. He is the guy who is going to set the pace of the game and dish the ball for the Knickerbockers, and forget his age at 34, the man is a proven winner with tremendous talent. And he isn't breaking down much yet... he still averages good numbers and plays smooth. So in other words, Carmelo has an opportunity to be as valuable a player as ever and put up huge numbers. Especially with my boy Amare taking up half the eyeballs out there with him... Talk about a one, two punch. Amare is still a beast... Don't forget that. Then you throw in two proven starters in Billups and shooting guard/small forward Landry Fields (second best rookie so this year behind Blake Griffin. Fact), and unproven but defensively talented center Ronny Turiaf.. and you don't have a bad starting five. And you know your due for AT LEAST 15 to 25 every night from Melo and Amare individually. Scoring wasn't the problem with this team, but it's more lethal and potent than ever now... now lets look for a big center in the offseason or at the deadline today and another big forward who is clutch on D. Let's go baby......

END RESULT:

BOTH TEAMS MADE OUT WITH A WINNING DEAL AND PLAYER AND BOTH PLAYERS ARE TOP 10 TALENTS. IF D-WILLIAMS SIGNS AN EXTENSION AFTER THIS SEASON, NEW YORK/NEW JERSEY BASKETBALL MAY BE BACK FOR A PERIOD... LET'S GO. GET AMPED. WE'RE BACK BITCHES.

Salutations as always,

Tim Dreez

Welcome to NJ Transit Stop: Newark Deron Williams!

This one goes out to all 12 of the Nets fan base out there. We just saw the Knicks get Melo and had to hear about it from all the bandwagon fans who probably are the same people that started watching the Giants AFTER they won a Super Bowl. Thats just uncool shit you're either a fan or not a fan. I won't lie I became pretty skeptical about our Russian mob GM recently and the looming move to Brooklyn makes me uneasy; but I LOVE this move. Basically were upgrading Devin Harris and giving away a young talent who 52 games in has shown no improvement. Fact: Most Lottery Rookies at least make an impact in a game halfway through the season while Favors has been pretty much non-existent. Gotta start somewhere and this move is the first of many from my boy Mikhail.

SONG OF THE DAY: XV - "Smallville" (Prod. J. Cole) ♫ Beautiful New Song

First off, it should be known that XV is a true lyricist and I am a major fan. He has been on the down low for way too long and I am really hoping this song blows up.

The up and coming rap sensation's new song, "Smallville," is hands down one of the best songs I've heard in years. It is a beautiful trip into fantastical reality that is full of Superman references and soul. The track was produced by fellow young star J. Cole, who was the first artist on Roc Nation and is widely considered as Brooklyn rap legend Jay Z's protege (talk about big shoes... Shaq's don't even compare). Cole molded an extremely deep, mellow, bass-heavy beat that hits straight to the heart (I mean bass like the instrument by the way... And who knew he could produce so well?! A real duel threat). He uses a Smashing Pumpkins sample beautifully; another reason I drool for this track (come back around Billy Corgan!!!!). More importantly (in my opinion), XV lays some of his best rhymes ever written on this beat and you can hear his soul through his voice. With deep, philosophical subject matter, and diverse, smooth, lyrical wordplay, XV brings his "A" game here.

Stand Out Lyrics:

"No Zack and Kelly but tell me into the Max we go...
And treat these verses like Margherito and Pacquiao...
Teachers thought I'd never come out of my shell... and well...
Now I hop on beats and go Pistachio!
They'll never steal my dreams like... Leo DiCaprio.... so....
Before the madness grows, I spit what they have to know...
In a town that was small, I crashed to the lawn...
The effect that I had was like a splash in a pond..."

AND THE WHOLE CHORUS!!!!!

BOTTOM LINE: A+ music

We here at SCS love both of the VERY talented MCs involved in this track and wish them long, prosperous careers. This is my "Jam of the Year" so far for 2011 so I hope Ya'll like it! ... AND INFINITE SAD FACES TO XV FOR GETTING JIPPED OUT OF A SPOT IN THE XXL FRESHMEN 2011 ISSUE.. VIZZY, YELAWOLF, CYHI DA PRINCE, AND JAY ELECTRONICA DESERVED IT MORE THAN ANYONE AND I'M JUST HAPPY XXL GOT TWO OF FOUR RIGHT!! Haha... but its always love here at SCS, so shouts to XXL for creating such a respected showcase for new talents! One love to all!

Yours Truly,

Tim "Treezus" Guerin

If you Lynx, we Lynx....

My friends.... I have decided that if a genie granted me the wish of giving one animal the ability to talk and laugh, never turning on me or hurting any person at all for the rest of its life, and bullshitting and smoking weed with me all the time.... It would definitely be a Lynx. Yes, a freakin lynx... I know my Onyx lovers feel me on this one cuz' my words to Mr. Magical Genie are this... Lynx me in bro. I mean they look crazy cool, are savage predators, and they are going extinct.... Now someone just find me a genie with morphing powers.... And a lynx. Thoughts my people?

Sincerely,

The Dreez

(And yes, I gets my green on. It's safer than booze n stoges so stop hating government!)

Welcome Home

Brooklyn born Carmelo Anthony is coming home to New York. Melo, who played one year at 'Cuse winning them a title, has been traded along with a few Denver teammates to the Knicks in a huge deal. This is probably the biggest acquisition in franchise history since they won the first ever NBA draft lottery in 1985 and won the rights to Patrick Ewing. The Knicks gave up a bunch of players, I get that. Chandler, Gallo, and Felton all helped the Knicks become respectable again but Melo is a franchise changer. Giving Amare another superstar to play with makes the Knicks a team you don't want to face. Can't double team both players. Are the Knicks built to win this year? Absolutely not. Do I think they can upset an Atlanta or Chicago in the playoffs? Absolutely. But once the Knicks are able to add another big man or two and once CP3 or DW8 end up here next year then we will be a championship contender for years to come.

D-Generation Next

This weekend I took a trip down to the nation's capital to visit El Chuntara and drink. When I wasn't binge drinking or throwing up in bathroom stalls, I was talking to a guy at the bar about the WWF. This guy knew it all when it came to the additude era and I have to say it warmed my heart. He went to every event that was held in DC and had even gone to the latest survivor series (I can't believe I'm remebering this considering how drunk I was). This guy became my best friend for the night and I proved that race relations are not as difficult as the nation's leaders make them out to be. So Mr. Obama if you want to fix all the black/white tension that still plagues the states all you have to do is sit down and talk old school WWF. Trust me everyone will forget about race and will start smelling what the cat is cooking.
